"SmartMsg" - Wayne County's "Supplemental Communications" Application

Wayne County, through UASI Grant funds has purchased a "supplemental communications" system. This system is intended for emergency notification usage of key public officials and public safety resources. The system is an all-encompassing communications system by which a client can be notified by way of: text messages to cell phones, pagers, PDA's; voice messages to land line phones, cell phones, radios; and voice/pop-up/eMail messages to computers. Further, the client software has the ability to initiate chat sessions with others. A chat member could be invited in by way of a cell phone and connected with another chat member by way of a portable radio, both of whom could be chatting with a computer client. Video conferencing is also part of the system.

Ten SmartMsg client licenses were purchased for each community in Wayne County in order to demonstrate a proof of concept of the application.  Upon the initial roll-out of SmartMsg to the communities, further licenses can be purchased both by the County and the Community to accommodate the needs of the Community.  Please eMail Jay Timko to schedule a demonstration/training session of SmartMsg and to coordinate getting your community entered into the growing SmartMsg system.
